Could not come at a better time. I'm having some internet connectivity issues and I'm not sure when it will be fixed.
As a side note, Obama by 14% in North Carolina and a very tight race in Indiana. It may be a double take for Obama. Bad news for Clinton.

Been a Little Busy
I've been a little busy. I've missed so many important news stories both on the presidential campaign and abroad. I will try to post tonight or maybe tomorrow. We'll see how it goes.

Doing Some Construction
The site is under construction. My goal is to make it breathable, and more accessible. Bear with me.
So far, I have chosen a new template. I'm having problems with the date and time stamps as well as the archiving, but soon, everything will be up an running as normal.
NOTE: I will update delegate counts later and provide some coverage on the election. Not surprisingly, Obama swept away with every state and he is likely to do that throughout the rest of February.

Poll Results
Question: Which Party do you support?
Democratic Party: 55% (140 votes)
Republican Party: 38% (96 votes)
Other: 6% (16 votes)
So, I have mostly Democratic readers. What can I do to attract more Republican readers?
I'll post another poll later in the day.

Adding New Features
Some of my visitors may remember I tried to add top menu navigational bars. That was unsuccessful. Well, I'm trying again, and this time, it will be done incrementally, because lets face it, I know nothing of this subject.
In the mean time, you can visit the first new feature which is simply the results of the race so far.
You can see it here. Soon, it will be available on a top menu navigational bar. Bare with me, I just started. Any advice and any help is welcomed. I would not mind redoing the entire look of the site.

I Just Like This One Better
How many voters feel this way?
For months the media has "educated" the general populous on every position, moral, historical point, and family member of the candidates. Do any of us really absorb all that information? Or does it come down to the impression we have of the candidate as a person? When we step in that booth, are we voting for someone we like more, one human being to another?
Sure there are voters who put one issue above all others, and vote for the candidate that shares their view on abortion, gun control, or other social and moral stances, but for the majority of us, doesn't it really come down to who we are attracted to as a personality, as a presence we can support and trust?
We pull the lever with the hope and a prayer that the person we're supporting really is a decent human being who will surround themselves with the right people, and when decision time comes, do the right thing for us, and our neighbors. It's not a decision based on party, or positions, but on trust, one American to another.

A Call for More Bloggers
I'm not the best blogger out there and I need help. If there is anyone out there who loves to think, talk or write about politics, I would love your contribution to the site with periodical updates. I'm not asking for a plethora of daily updates, only occasional updates/editorials/opinions. You could be a Democrat, Republican, Independent, Green, Libertarian, anything, as long as you are OBJECTIVE and UNBIASED.
So, anyone out there?

New Link
I don't usually post links on the body of the blog, but this one is worth it. Head over to Behind the Ballot and take a look. They have extensive information on all Democratic and Republican candidates as well as an extensive look at the issues.
They are still developing the site, so bare with them.
Enjoy.

Top Menu Placed on Hold
Due to complications, the Top Menu will have to wait, possibly until after the Iowa caucus.
I'm not entirely happy witht the turn out or the format, so we will just have to make do with the main page for now. But, chances are, it will be up and running next year.

Top Menu's Comming Soon
Soon, Reliable Politics will feature top menu click able links, which will give you more information on the 2008 election.
Until then, it is just a placeholder and a little unattractive. I may do a redesign to better suit the theme of the blog.

Note to Self
I am a horrible blogger.
Either I forget to post or I just don't have time.
The solution? If anyone would like to blog for a site, but don't have the courage or will to create your own, and will like to blog for Reliable Politics, e-mail me and we will talk.
Until next time...

Updated Primary Schedule
I updated the primary schedule. With so many rescheduling, my list seemed incoherent and very outdated. There is still no word on the caucus and primary dates for Iowa and New Hampshire. Chances are there won't be any information for some time. Until then, enjoy the list. Keep in mind, there is only four months until the first votes are cast.

Primary Schedule
I updated the primary schedule with yet another new format. This one is much better, which also includes delegate allocations for Democrats (in the blue) and Republicans (in the red).
Remember, this is a tentative schedule and will be updated as states move up their primary.
As a side not, I'm trying to figure out how I will cover the primary race. I may do the same thing as the rankings on the side bar, but rank the candidates by number of delegates won with detailed posts on each primary race in the body of the blog.
Until next time...

New Domain Name
After revamping the template, I have decided to switch to a private domain name:
www.reliablepolitics.com
The domain is not in affect just yet, but keep this address noted and be ready for a change.
For my fellow bloggers who visit my site and link to my site, please make this change when appropriate to your blog roll. I will e-mail you as a reminder.
Until then, enjoy.

New Template
This is my third and probably my last template for this blog. This one I like. I did some tweaking with the original to get wider margins and retained my header.
It's simple yet more sophisticated. I got the idea from another blog, which you can access on the sidebar, Intent Dissent.
Chances are I will also switch to a personal domain. I'm weighing my options and I will let you know. If I do, it will be a little while longer until I can get back to original and constant blogging.
In the mean time... enjoy.
Know your candidates!

There seems to be a loading problem with the blog. Just be patient and the entire page will load in due time. I hope to resolve the problem soon.
There are about four to five articles that I posted today.

When Will Democrats Get Their Modern Roosevelt?
The 2008 election is upon us and while we cannot predict the future, one thing is certain: it is going to be a wild ride. But, as the primary race quickly approaches, the Republican Party is in disarray. Who will be Bush’s heir? Better yet, who will be Reagan’s heir? Romney has claimed himself as heir apparent, but conservatives are still looking. Could it be Fred Thompson? As they continue their rabid search for the perfect candidate that projects the leadership and qualities of the late President Ronald Regan, I have a question: Where is Roosevelt’s heir?
Arguably, Democrats have to look over five decades ago to find a Democrat that projected strength and power. Johnson led the nation through the civil rights era, meanwhile starting a war that today still stands as the only war America has ever lost. Kennedy projected strength and resilience amid imminent confrontation with the Soviet Union. Truman was a fine military leader while Roosevelt stood at the throne before them. The last two Democratic Presidents is laughable compared to the ones that came before them. Carter was considered incompetent and Clinton… well Clinton was just average.
Eight Democrats are running for President in 2008: Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, Chris Dodd, John Edwards, Mike Gravel, Dennis Kucinich, Barack Obama, and Bill Richardson, all with unique qualities and ideas for the future of America. Some are more visible than others, some more powerful and others are virtually unknown by the general public. But, is any of them the heir to F.D.R? One could argue Clinton has the competence, or Edwards has the charisma, or Obama has the likability, or Richardson has the leadership or Biden and Dodd have the experience, but, is any of them the true heir to the man who made the Democratic Party a party of strength? That remains to be seen.
The last six years have had mixed results for the Democratic Party. They were perceived has weak on national defense and security and defeated in almost every election, but in 2006 retook the Congress ending a twelve-year sting by the Republican Party. Now, they are fighting to end a war that the President misjudged, abiding by the temporary mandate demanded by the electorate. Will they deliver? Will they disappoint? Or, will they ruin the part? What’s in store for the future?
It is hard to say if Democrats will ever regain their image of the party of F.D.R. and Truman. The electorate has transformed the party to something quite different from that of the 1940’s and 1950’s. Arguably, it will take a crisis or even a war to test a Democratic President, but will they have their chance?
Notice
UPDATE 2: I have put the Newsreel on the left sidebar and removed the VP nods. They were pointless.
UPDATE: Newsreel removed for now. Either I will find another tool or try and tweak the code.
Notice the Newsreel on top. It's a new feature by blogger, unfortunately, the affiliation logo is misplaced. I'm trying got get that fixed. So, don't think it is a problem with your computer.
